Rockies Hang 9-6 Loss on Dodgers
|
The Colorado Rockies stopped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-6, behind an impressive performance from J.D. Martinez. The five-time All-Star made life miserable for Los Angeles pitching. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Luis Castillo. He's now 11-11. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Rockies. Raisel Iglesias recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 39 for 47.
The Rockies got an important contribution from third baseman Nick Solak, who in the bottom of the first punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 34th double of the season and put the Rockies ahead, 5-0.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Martinez said. "We did a good job of that today."
With the win, the Rockies sit at 85-73.
