Reds, Ruiz Pin Bad Loss on Pirates
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11-2, at Great American Ball Park. The Reds got a fine performance from catcher Keibert Ruiz, who went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Corey Kluber got the win, improving to 14-8. He worked 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Pittsburgh is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

Cincinnati center fielder Riley Greene contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 120th hit of the season and put the Reds ahead, 3-2.

"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Jim Krug, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
