The Houston Astros managed to get by the Kansas City Royals, 5-4, at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher Zac Gallen set himself apart with his performance. Stephen Nogosek locked down his 24th save. The Astros are now 74-80, while the Royals fall to 84-70.

Had Paul DeJong not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, DeJong hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Astros.

"We ground out the win," said DeJong. "That's all that matters."
