Twins Come Up Short at Chicago, 2-1
|
The Chicago White Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Lance McCullers Jr., who muffled the Minnesota offense en route to a tight 2-1 White Sox win at Guaranteed Rate Field. Ryan Helsley locked down his 38th save. The White Sox now have a mark of 83-66.
Andres Gimenez, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop went 1-4 with a triple.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Chicago manager Matt Hopkins said.
