Phillies Curb Braves, 7-2
|
The performance of Garrett Cooper proved critical in helping Philadelphia beat Atlanta, 7-2. The Phillies first baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. James Norwood got the save, his 1st in 3 chances. With the victory, the Phillies record now stands at 67-77.
Enrique Hernández went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia. The 32-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Austin Gomber. It was his 49th RBI of the season.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Cooper.
