Wild Card Game Game 1 Victory for Bieber and Texas
The Wild Card Game got off to a quiet start today, with the host Texas Rangers taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. Texas right-hander Shane Bieber was marvelous at Globe Life Field. The Rangers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

In the bottom of the first, Texas first baseman Pete Alonso had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Alonso stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Texas. For the game, he was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"I really like what we did out there today," Alonso said after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
