Rays Edge Past Giants, 6-5
|
The Tampa Bay Rays dealt the San Francisco Giants a 6-5 loss at Tropicana Field. Luis Arraez, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in hits with 22, was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Reliever Trevor Megill picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Josh Hader, who led the NL in saves with 13 in 2020, took the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Giants, now 11-4.
Lars Nootbaar was the walk-off hero for Tampa Bay. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rays left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Nootbaar.
