Mets Victorious at Cincinnati, 7-3
|
The performance of Evan Carter proved critical in helping New York beat Cincinnati, 7-3. The Mets left fielder was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. With the win, New York climbs to 3-5.
Jake Burger had a big 2-run home run for the Mets in the top of the fifth inning. With New York leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Steven Matz, who finished 2nd in the AL in wins with 14 in 2021, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mets ahead, 4-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Burger told the New York Citizen.
