Nationals Tagged with 9-6 Loss
|
The Philadelphia Phillies powered past the Washington Nationals, 9-6, at Citizens Bank Park. Elehuris Montero provided some of the pop. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Adam Ottavino picked up the save for Philadelphia, his 1st of the year. Philadelphia is now 23-25.
The Nationals had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Phillies going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Tommy Edman came to the plate. Edman hit a 2-run double on a 1-1 fastball from Washington hurler Josh Taylor. It was Edman's 7th double of the year.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Edman told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
