Dodgers Fall Short, 1-0, at San Francisco
|
Starting pitcher Tyler Mahle gave the San Francisco Giants a rock-solid effort. The Newport Beach, California native helped his team defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 1-0, at Oracle Park. Mahle, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Josh Hader picked up the save for San Francisco, his 13th of the year.
In the bottom of the fourth, San Francisco designated hitter Mike Yastrzemski had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two out, Yastrzemski stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, San Francisco. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager .
San Francisco, at 29-16, is 2 games up in the National League West Division.
