Rangers Absorb 4-2 Home Loss
|
Texas got a decent performance from pitcher Shane Bieber, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland won the Globe Life Field contest, 4-2. Bieber threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Jose Suarez, the winner, is now 4-4. He struck out 4 and walked 3 over 5 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. With the win, the Guardians have a record of 23-22.
Cleveland used a clutch at-bat from Jeff McNeil to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Guardians ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
In postgame remarks, McNeil applauded his team's "toughness."
