Tigers Pick Up 2-1 Win Over Cleveland
|
Detroit left-hander Sean Manaea helped his team edge Cleveland by the score of 2-1. Manaea kept the opposing lineup in check. Manaea yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-1. Jhoan Duran nailed down his 12th save.
Detroit used a timely hit from 32-year old first baseman Jon Singleton to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was huge.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Detroit manager Matt Murphy said.
Detroit now has a record of 22-15 with the win.
