Astros Winners, 4-1, Over Mariners
|
Houston Astros pitcher Sandy Alcantara was in fine form, leading his team past the Seattle Mariners, 4-1. Alcantara yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-2. Joe Jimenez finished to wrap up his 8th save.
Ryan Mountcastle had a big 2-run double for the Astros in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Houston leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Robbie Ray, who finished 4th in the NL in ERA with 2.89 in 2017, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 4-0.
Alcantara called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
The win gives Houston a season record of 18-15.
